The Farm Golf Club is a Tom Fazio course that sits on a spectacular property in Rocky Face, GA. The former site of the US Senior Amateur, the course was inundated with rain during the El Nino winter of 2009.
Trey Cutshall contacted Turf Drainage Co. of America at the beginning of December to do a complete drainage plan on the course. The drainage plan was completed and contracts were signed before Christmas. By January 10th, trenchers were in the ground. Although Trey described the weather conditions as “awful” for the first two months of the project, the contractor, Siphon Systems, Inc. out of Jupiter, FL, was able to finish the project on schedule and on budget by June 30th, 2010.
There was over 100,000 feet of pipe installed in less than 6 months, and the results are amazing. Trey says “Siphon Systems, Inc. did a great job under difficult conditions. We have had several two inch rains, and gotten right back onto the course.”
The part the members like the best was that the golf course was never closed. Only the holes that were being worked on were closed or converted into par 3’s while the crews were on the hole.
